As a telescopic crawler is refined and developed, its popularity goes beyond the power line industry. Known for carrying out a variety of tasks at plants, the crawler helps in steel erection, panel placement, and bridge work. The main reason why the popularity of this type of crane has proliferated is its mobility. Due to its mobility, a telescopic crawler crane is gaining popularity over lattice boom crawlers. Along with this, it needs less space for rigging and can be driven with a load on the hook.

As per the opinion of Mike Herbert— the Director for Manitowoc global product for rough-terrain cranes—“The cranes offer the benefits of small crawler cranes along with the versatility of telescoping booms. Due to its compact dimensions and transportability, it can save time and money of contractors and end users.”

The features of telescopic crawler crane are hard to ignore by any industrialist. Read on to get to know about its high-performing models.

The new models

In order to keep up with the growing demands, manufactures are focused on developing cranes with high capacity and good pick and carry capabilities.

Some of the latest models are discussed below:

6113 Telescopic Crawler is an awe-inspiring engineering specimen from German manufacturer, Sennebogen. It is the largest crane produced until now with a whopping 120-tonne capacity. This crane offers a 40m, 4-section full power telescopic boom that can be expanded to 70m when combined with a fly jib and lattice boom extension. Further, the crane is enabled with multi-cylinder technology, which makes it easy to maintain and allows it to do continuous telescoping. The boom can work variably and quickly at any length.

Other features:
• It is able to work on inclines up to 4 degrees.
• It has 8m heavy-duty track frames and 900mm wide tracks.
• Its undercarriage can be telescoped out to a track of width 5.4m.
• It has an elevating work platform with a load-bearing capacity of up to 1ton.
• It has LED headlights, Maxcab, and cameras.
• It is powered by a Tier 4 Final 168 kW Deutz engine.

120-tonne capacity GTC-1200 is another telescopic crane that comes from the house of Tadano Mantis. This crane has a 5-section and 47.2m full power boom. Further, it can be configured with a 32m jib and is fitted with the Tadano AML-C–rated capacity indicator system, track position sensing, and swing angle sensing for crane setup and position. It also features the Tadano HelloNet Telematics management tool.

Manitowoc has launched a trio of compact telescoping crawler cranes built by German manufacturer, Sennebogen. The three Grove-branded models are the 55 US ton (50tonne) capacities GHC55, the 77 ton (70tonne) GHC75, and the 132 ton (120tonne) GHC130.

There are many other crane companies which are constantly developing telescopic crawler cranes to cater to the growing demand.
