The world renowned German company known for developing latest technologies of Cranes, the LASE has recently come up with TLP- Truck lifting prevention system, which aims at preventing crane accidents at sites while lifting trucks or other similar heavy vehicles.

The mechanism behind the TLP

TLP employs a simple mechanism of not allowing Crane to lift trucks if any of its twist locks are not completely open or is blocked. What usually happens that Cranes are able to uplift container, rail wagon or trucks even when the twist locks are partially blocked or closed, but it may lead to accident?

The TLP immediately interrupts the uplifting movement of the Crane as soon as the laser measurement system detects a lifted thing at 10cm. This system consists of two laser scanners fitted on the gantry of the Crane. The scanners do vertical scanning of the movement lane. They scan the relative position of the trailer and the lifted container. If both of them are found to me aligned and moving upward in the same direction, then it signal alarm bell to start yelling.

The LASE General Manager Mr. Lars Ambrosy informed that till date though there have been numbers of such systems deployed to prevent such accidents, but they were partially successful in reducing rates of such accidents. But these new systems of TLP, is believed to lessen it drastically.

One more things which should be added is that TLP system could be fitted with all types cranes- RTG’s (Tyre gantry cranes), RMG’s(Rail mounted Gantry cranes) and STS-(Ship-to- ship) cranes.
